Last week, Ireland AM shone a spotlight on something we’re incredibly passionate about—making everyday life easier for aging parents and loved ones through practical, thoughtful design.
In a special segment featuring Occupational Therapist Olivia Guilfoyle from Homecare Medical, the Uccello Kettle and Uccello Grip Mat were featured as tools that help people live more independently at home. These may be simple products, but their impact is enormous —and we were thrilled to see them get the airtime they deserve.
A Growing Need: Ireland’s Aging Population
Ireland is aging!
The number and proportion of people aged 65 years and over is increasing, and according to the CSO, this trend is projected to continue steadily over the next three decades. With more people living longer and wanting to remain in their homes for as long as possible, how we support our elderly population needs to evolve.
This isn’t just about care—it’s about empowering independence, restoring confidence, and allowing our parents and grandparents to live life on their terms.
What the Ireland AM Segment Highlighted
On the show, Olivia demonstrated how the Uccello Kettle removes the struggle of lifting a heavy kettle of boiling water—something many people with reduced strength, arthritis, or tremors find challenging. With its tilt-to-pour action, ergonomic handle, and sleek design, the Uccello Kettle is an elegant solution to an everyday problem.
She also showed how the Uccello Non-Slip Grip Mat helps keep items stable on smooth surfaces and can be used to open stubborn lids—offering extra reassurance and safety in the kitchen.
These aren’t complicated devices, by any means. They’re not bulky or medical-looking. They’re simple, stylish, and intuitive—and they’re helping families across Ireland every single day.
Products Like These Deserve More Airtime
One of the reasons we were so proud to be featured on Ireland AM is because products like these don’t always get the attention they deserve.
There are thousands of people in Ireland quietly adapting to life with arthritis, Parkinson’s, or simply the natural effects of aging. And often, they—and their families or carers—don’t realise that there are beautiful, discreet products out there designed to help.
These aren’t products that scream “I have a problem.” They say:
“I care about my independence.”
“I want to keep doing the things I love.”
“I want to stay safe at home.”
Sometimes the most thoughtful things we can give are the ones that make everyday life feel easier, safer, and more manageable for the people we care about most.
Supporting the People Who Supported Us
If you have aging parents, or you’re supporting someone who needs a bit of extra care at home, we encourage you to explore tools like the Uccello Kettle. It’s more than a kettle—it’s a way to give back confidence and make daily routines safer and simpler.
We’re grateful to Ireland AM for sharing this message and helping us continue the conversation around aging with dignity, safety, and style.
