A few weeks ago we wrote about 4 great daily living aids that can help make a Carers life easier. This week we want to focus on the assistive living products that your loved one can use easily and safely at home while you aren’t there. The hope is that you are given some peace of mind while at work or out of the house.
5 Assistive Living Products That Give Peace Of Mind
The Uccello Kettle
Our Uccello Kettle is the perfect assistive living aid – it allows your loved one to safely and steadily pour hot water every time. With it’s unique tilt-to-pour action there is no more heavy lifting, balancing or straining for a cuppa.
The kettle was designed thoughtfully for anyone with limited mobility, strength, visibility and/or dexterity. It holds up to 1.5
litres of water (which is 6 cups of tea) and only needs 1 finger to tilt and pour.
This way, you will never need to worry about burns and scalds at home while you are not there and they can enjoy their favourite hot beverage safely and easily.
The Droplet
The Droplet is new to the market and specifically designed to help anyone who might struggle to stay hydrated. While you are out at work or running an errand, having the Droplet around your loved one can give you that peace of mind that they have a constant reminder to stay hydrated.
How it works:
- Within each Droplet set you will receive 1 mug and 1 tumbler.
- Both come with measuring lines on the side to help you record their fluid intake.
- The Droplet knows when the user has not drank for some time and will promote them to with flashing lights and an audio message that you can record (‘‘Mom make a cuppa” or ”Dad, take a drink”).
- The Droplet will also alert you of their hydration patterns and levels so that you can spot any warning signs of dehydration. It’s ideal especially during the summer, with the extra heat.
The Uccello Grip Mat
The Uccello Grip Mat is an extremely versatile assistive living product. We originally launched it as the perfect cup guide for when using the Uccello Kettle. For those with a visual impairment or depth perception issues, the mat offers added safety when dealing with hot water.
It sits directly in front of the Uccello Kettle’s front feet. It’s outer rim is ribbed and the inner circle is smooth allowing them to know where to place the cup for a safe and steady pour every time.
It is also ideal for opening stubborn jar lids by giving them extra grip should they have weakened hand strength. And, last but not least, it grips on both wet and dry surfaces and will insure anything placed on it will not move such as a cup or a plate etc.
Cooling Socks
If the last few days have thought us anything, we Irish are not equipped to deal with such heat. It can be easy to become hot and uncomfortable at home or even in the garden. A great way to make sure your loved is calm and cool this summer would be with the amazing cold therapy socks.
There are multiple benefits to a pair of these socks, they can help soothe:
- Sore feet
- Hot feet
- Tired feet
- Aching feet
- Painful chronic conditions such as arthritis
With the cold therapy socks you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that your loved has some great pain relieving socks at their finger tips.
